Thickened root used as substitute for horseradish. Foliage eaten as greens, in salads, in vegetable curries, as pickles and for seasoning. Seeds yield 38-40% of a non-drying oil, known as Ben Oil, used in arts and for lubricating watches and other delicate machinery. Leaves and young branches are relished by livestock. Commonly planted in Africa as a living fence (Hausa) tree. Trees planted on graves are believed to keep away hyenas and its branches are used as charms against witchcraft. Bark can serve for tanning; it also yields a coarse fiber.

Not even one!This year I found this deal and I hope at least one sprouts. I ordered 25 seeds and the seller kindly added an extra one! Very happy about that. Also they sent a interesting sheet on seed germination, but since it's too general (it talks about how different types of plant seeds require different growing conditions) it doesn't explain how to get the moringa seeds to sprout. But, that's not a big problem since you can easily look online for a good moringa tree website with more information. Overall, I'm pleased, but if at least one doesn't sprout, I won't be so pleased. Hopefully, the odds are good this time. **UPDATE** It's been a little over a week since I planted 3 of the seeds.
