About Fruit Production:
Due to the blossoming cycles of Citrus & Fruit Trees we cannot guarantee that any of our trees will arrive with developed fruit on them. Since our trees are grown from grafts of mature trees, they do produce fruit years sooner than a seeded tree would. Usually our trees will begin to blossom and produce fruit around two to three years old. The older a tree is, the more likely it is to produce fruit. Fruit production is seriously effected by the care that the tree receives and also the climate that the tree resides in. With proper care, any of our trees will thrive and produce fruit for many years. That's why we back our trees with a 3 year warranty!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful tree!, February 15, 2012

This review is from: 3-4 Year Old Improved Meyer Lemon Tree in Grower's Pot, 3 Year Warranty
I was a bit nervous about the plant being in transit for an entire week, but it arrived safely with no damage or major signs of stress. The company responded to email inquiries promptly and was very professional.

The tree is about 3.5 feet tall and STUNNINGLY beautiful. Citrus make wonderful indoor plants! No lemons yet, but LOTS of little ones that have just started. This tree will clearly fruit in the next few months.

The only suggestion I have is that Lemon Citrus should package some basic care instructions with their plants. However, I know that they would address any care questions by email or phone if needed. I would certainly order from them again!

UPDATE: After having the tree for six months, it has dropped 70 percent of it's leaves and isn't doing that well. I've pulled my hair out over it, tried everything I can think of. BTW, I'm no Johnny Come Lately plant caretaker, so keeping this thing alive is a matter of pride for me. VERY... Read more

This is what I was hoping for and more. The tree arrived in great shape, flowering, and in some cases showing signs of pollination. The instructions and letter they send per arrival was greatly appreciated. Its nice to have all the info i need in one play.
I think these guys are a class act and it definitely shows in both the tree and the care they show.

Giant Zanzibar Castor Bean 7 Seeds -Ricinus- Green Leaf for $0.54

Customer Rating :
Rating: 4.0

List Price : Price : $0.54
Giant Zanzibar Castor Bean 7 Seeds -Ricinus- Green Leaf

Product Description

THE CASTOR BEAN is a shrub-like plant with large, long-stemmed leaves that are lobed like fingers. Its spiny, clustered seed pods contain white, bean-like seeds (Botanically speaking, it isn't a true bean, but a Spurge), which typically bear attractive markings in various colours. The plant is native to tropical Africa, but it is grown commercially in California and has become naturalized throughout the southern United States. In northern areas, it is often cultivated, in the warmer months, as an ornamental annual in gardens, providing local gardeners with a castor of thousands....

Giant Zanzibar is a larger variety than common castor bean with more conspicuous veining on the leaves. This is a fast growing plant with huge, palmate, tropical-looking leaves up to three feet across. In tropical areas Castor Beans are perennial. This variety can grow 20 feet tall.

POISON LOCATION: Seeds, bark & leaves are all somewhat toxic, but the greatest concentration of the toxin occurs in the seeds & their pods. If you grow Castor Beans in your garden and you have children it is safest to remove & destroy the seed pods before they mature.
POISON TYPE: Ricin, a poisonous protein, one of a group known as plant lectins. In the right amount & concentration, Ricin is said to be one of the most toxic natural poisons in the world. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of more complex proteins in the intestinal wall, which in turn causes digestive distress. Castor Beans are traditionally cultivated as a basis of laxatives such as castor oil, which is also used as an ingredient of industrial lubricants, soaps, & varnishes
My Grandmother use to plant one Castor Bean Plant near the garden to keep deer away!

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Amazing plant I have ever grown., December 15, 2009

This review is from: Giant Zanzibar Castor Bean 7 Seeds -Ricinus- Green Leaf
Thanks to HIRTS. I've grown regular castor bean plants for years. In 2009 I ordered Zanzibar castor seeds from HIRTS. I soon learned this type of castor is the giant of giants! It is now dec 15 2009...and they are at least 20 feet high! Two of my 8 are now towering above the roof of my ranch style home. The winter frost has killed a few of the tire sized leaves, but the plants just easily replace them. They are full of huge bean pods! Every time I stand among them I feel transported to a Hollywood set for the Jurassic Park movies. They look so unreal, so strange and otherworldly! On my little side street I actually see people stop their cars just to stare at them. I used no fertilizer or plant food on them, and now they are so gargantuan I laugh out loud just looking at them. I love them like pets, and if it doesn't rain for five days straight I hose my babies down for an hour of so. I know as the temperatures continue to dip I will wake up one morning and see my friends killed... Read more

A week after I received and planed the seeds all eleven had sprouted... Two weeks later I transplanted them to my yard. At five weeks all eleven of the plants are over a foot tall. I live in Orlando, Florida and I wanted some shade along the southwest section of my home, and I needed a plant that would not crash through my roof during a hurricane; these appear as if they will help keep down the internal temperature of my home, while looking very jurassic cool:)

I bought these seeds, and planted them the day they arrived. They are a very fast growing plant, much faster than I anticipated. Very nice colors, all in all, a great plant.

Nicely started California redwood tree - 21 inches high for $12.75

    Customer Rating :
    Rating: 5.0

    List Price : Price : $12.75
Nicely started California redwood tree - 21 inches high

    Product Description

Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) are one of the oldest plant families on Earth. Although they thrive in the temperate rain forests of the Pacific Northwest, they can adapt to higher elevations and warmer and dryer climates, as well as colder areas. The secret is lots of water and sunshine. The common name for these trees is California Redwood or Coastal Redwood. They can live for 2,000 years or more in ideal conditions. This species includes the tallest trees on Earth, reaching up to 375 feet in height.

You are purchasing a large redwood tree plug, two to three years old. These stand about 21 inches measured from the bottom of the plug, which is about 2 inches in diameter. We recommend that you pot these in 1-gallon pots on arrival.

The first picture shows a typical plug. The second picture shows the plants in our greenhouse. The third picture shows a Sequoia grove.

You can regulate the speed of growth by varying the light -- the lower the light, the slower the growth. But do keep them moist, as redwoods like lots of water. We think these can be grown outdoors successfully from zones 5 through 9 if proper care is given.

We recommend growing these as pot plants for up to a year, gradually increasing the size of the pot. Plant in the ground in the spring of 2012. Be sure to allow for room to grow when selecting a location, and be sure to provide plenty of water in dry conditions.

Or you can grow these as container plants by pruning them back if they threaten to get too big.

These trees were tissue cultured from large redwoods that showed superior growth, shape, adaptation to varying climatic regions, limb structure, height and diameter.

A mature tree is said to produce nearly 260 pounds of oxygen a year. Young redwoods use sunlight so efficiently (3-4 times more than pines) that they can grow even in deep shade. In full sunlight and moist soil, a large redwood sapling can grow more than 6 feet in a single season!

    • Genuine California Sequoia redwood tree
    • Sorry, no shipping to extremely cold areas
    • Grows very fast, easy to grow
    • Great for landscapes and for bonsai
    • Wonderful for a classroom project

I received a healthy tree on a Thursday, planted on Saturday, new growth already sprouting out of every tip the next Thursday. Wow! What have I done?!? This tree is going to take up my entire back yard. Planted on March 10 2012, Jackson, Mississippi.

Tree arrived promptly just as shown in photo.

I was pleased when the tree arrived that it was so healthy. It was a gift for my 6 year old nephew. He has it now planted in a large container and it is still looking great. In the next few weeks he should be able to plant it outside.

5.0 out of 5 stars As Pictured, April 5, 2012
    Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Nicely started California redwood tree - 21 inches high
I received the tree promptly and it was nice and healthy. The instructions were a little confusing because it said put the tree in a pot until spring 2011 but it is now spring 2012. It still gets 5 stars because the tree is super healthy and it doesn't take much common sense to plant a tree so I could do it with no instructions. Maybe it would be helpful to know why the seller recommends putting it in a pot at first rather than directly in the ground. I think I might even buy another.
