The Kaffir Lime Tree is a thorny tree with aromatic and distinctively shaped "double" leaves. The kaffir lime is a rough, green fruit. The green lime fruit is distinguished by its bumpy exterior and its small size (approx. 4 cm wide).
The rind of the kaffir lime is commonly used in Lao and Thai curry paste, adding an aromatic, astringent flavor. The zest of the fruit is used in creole cuisine and to impart flavor to "arranged" rums in the Martinique, Réunion island and Madagascar.
The leaves can be used fresh or dried, and can be stored frozen. Its hourglass-shaped leaves (comprising the leaf blade plus a flattened, leaf-like leaf-stalk or petiole) are widely used in Thai and Lao cuisine (for dishes such as tom yum), and Cambodian cuisine (for the base paste "Krueng"). The leaves are used in Indonesian cuisine (especially Balinese and Javanese), for foods such as sayur asam, and are used along with Indonesian bay leaf for chicken and fish. They are also found in Malaysian and Burmese cuisines.

Since our trees are grown from grafts of mature trees, they do produce fruit years sooner than a seeded tree would. Usually our trees will begin to blossom and produce fruit around two to three years old. The older a tree is, the more likely it is to produce fruit. Fruit production is seriously effected by the care that the tree receives and also the climate that the tree resides in. With proper care, any of our trees will thrive and produce fruit for many years. That's why we back our trees with a 3 year warranty!

A staple in Thai cooking, the leaves and fruit from the Kaffir lime are unlike any other lime. I gave up on locating a non-grafted tree and ordered this tree from Lemon Citrus Tree.The tree arrived 11 days after I placed my order on amazon and was shipped via UPS ground. The seller did a good job packing the tree. It arrived with full dirt; no bare roots. The seller states the item will be 2 to 2.5 feet tall and this example did not disappoint; measuring in at 30 inches above the dirt line. There were a few, small broken leaves but overall the tree arrived in great shape. I uploaded a couple picture of the tree that were taken right after I transplanted it into a pot.
